                                 ALBUM REVIEW
   COLDPLAY: MYLO XYLOTO

I Have always been a massive fan of Coldplay and their music and I firmly believe that their 5th album named 'Mylo Xyloto' is their best work yet. The album shows how far the band have come since their first album Parachutes(2000). Mylo Xyloto had to be superb to even come close to the success that Viva La Vida(2008) recieved after being 2008's best selling album after fighting off Kanye West and Kings of Leon for the top spot. Coldplay have put a new spin on Indie Rock music which makes their new album so unique.

The name of the Album has been took from the name of the Frida Kahlo painting 'Mylo Xyloyo' and this album is certainly a work of art. Coldplay have stuck to their strong ethos of not singing about typical mainstream song topics but have written their album about Life and the positives and negatives of it. There is an emotional side to the album too especially in the songs 'Us against the world' you take notice of the croak in Christ Martins voice and the passion and sadness in his voice while singing the line 'let me see again'.

I cannot decide between which of two songs is my favorite off the album, It is between Paradise and Charlie Brown. Paradise became chart eligible in the UK and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 14, before taking the number 1 spot on its tenth week, becoming the band's second number-one single after "Viva la Vida" in 2008. The song was met with positive reviews, and was the best selling rock song of 2011 in the United Kingdom, selling 410,000 copies. Paradise has recently been used as the theme for box office smash hit the 'Life of Pi'. Charlie Brown is a great song although never exactly a smash hit in the charts it seems to be one of the more popular songs on the album, It was the first song recorded for the album and was only one of 5 songs to be made into chart singles.

Are there any Criticisms about Mylo Xyloto?
Although i loved the album i found that alot of the songs are very slow and only one or two really get you moving, Although these songs are great for relaxing it is not normally the type of music i would associate with Indie Rock.
Are there any special guests on Mylo Xyloto?
Rhianna is the only feature artist on the album which is a massive statement for Coldplay i think due to Rhianna's HUGE fanbase, the song she features on is 'Princess of China' which was greatly popular with Pop fans aswell as indie rock fans.
Album Rating- 9/10
