Audience Classification

1)
The Explorer – Steam Greenlight
Steam Greenlight is a sub-platform on Steam which allows individual/small game development groups to showcase their original ideas to the public and have them vote on whether their game is eligible to be hosted and sold on Steam. I think Steam Greenlight would appeal to 'the Explorer' because as previously mentioned, it's a platform for unique minds to showcase unique ideas – fueling the Explorer's desire for change and exploration.
The Mainstreamer – The Walt Disney Company
The Walt Disney Company has consistency; they hardly deviate into different styles of storyline or animation. They're consistent in making decent films and animations, predictable but decent. The Mainstreamer craves a strict integrity and wishes not for change as it may scare or anger them, the Walt Disney makes good films all the time because they stick to a formula that the masses enjoy. It earns them money and respect.
The Aspirer – Classic FM
The Aspirer's desire is to do whatever it takes to gain the respect and admiration of others; I believe that Classic FM would be a prime target for the Aspirer. The fact that an Aspirer listens to classical music ultimately brings them bragging rights. Other gullible people may watch an Aspirer listening to classical music and believe that they are cultured and intelligent (which they probably aren’t) due to the nature of the music; when someone thinks of an Aspirer in that way, the Aspirer gets their goal, their admiration.
The Succeeder – Dragon's Den
The Succeeder's goal in life control, they do wish to be successful in life and I think that entrepreneur/business shows such as Dragon's Den would motivate them to attempt to cease success. This show can possibly relate to the Succeeder's hard-working attitudes to life meaning they may watch it for personal identification.
2)
I reckon these categories of audience are helpful but no reliable in defining people interests. They may not be accurate as people tend to change but for the most part, it pretty much sums up the stereotypical personalities of each category of audience. People however, can blend between multiple categories, there may be Aspirers who enjoy Mainstream television and so on.
3)
Emmerdale is currently on the TV (no big surprise there). Emmerdale is a drama series of a bunch of British people doing STUFF...just, stuff. Now this would normally be favorited by Mainstreamers, but more specifically female Mainstreamers aged 16+. I say females because Emmerdale's theme of mundane, family and relationship drama is aimed towards the Mainstream woman as they seem to enjoy watching someone else's life fall apart; it's addition of occasional violence and adult themes hint towards an aged 16+ range. The class of these woman would normally be working to middle class, I couldn’t see the upper class being interested in middle class drama but I may be wrong. The show reflects the hardships of the middle-class making it relatable amongst them and the working-class can be inspired by it.
