With weeks remaining before the exam you will want to know exactly what to do to revise for your MS1 exam. Firstly, let's remind ourselves of the things we know about the MS1 exam...
- It is two and a half hours long
- It is worth 50% of your AS Media Studies grade
- It has three questions
- The first question will be a textual analysis of an unseen text provided by the exam board
- Questions two & three are about Audience and Representations...
- But not necessarily in that order
For revision purposes it is very simple to divide these into the three questions. There are links below...
...however before you start some focussed, meaningful and ultimately rewarding revision - you should know what these revision pages are, and what they are not...
These pages will guide you and give you opportunity to demonstrate the media knowledge, practice the skills and ultimately prepare answers for exactly the kind of questions that you will be completing in your exam.
Revising by doing is the BEST kind of revision for this exam.
These pages are not simply a collection of the theories and examples that were used in lessons - you should already have those and if you have any missing you can try the pages on the Schemes of Work page - most of the ones you need should be there. However...
Simply re-reading and re-writing the notes you made in the lessons is NOT good revision.
You have been told!
These links will take you to the revision pages...
And here are three rules to abide by when doing your revision...
- Do plenty of practice - it's the only way to guarantee success
- Don't freak out after the first ten minutes when it's hard work
- Don't get distracted by all the rubbish that might distract you
And I found a meme about revision...
...so that you don't have to.
