Age : representations

Age is represented through many media such as TV news, films and the list goes on but in this i am going to look at certain ages that are stereotyped in a good and bad light and the three main ages i have chosen are going to be my examples of representation of age. My first example is going to be of  teenagers (15-18) the example im using for this is going to use the series "Skins".My second is going to be of  elderly people and for this i am going to use the character of jack from "father Ted"

My first example of the representation of age is the series called "Skins" this series represents a specific age and that is 16-18 (teenagers) this shows the typical  behavior and stereotype of teenagers  it also shows that people of this age may be seen as destructive and maybe more worried about there social life than any thing else this is evident in this TV series.

In this series there are multiple representations of the stereotypical teenager but for this i am going to pick one character out of this series to represent the typical age of a teenager and for this i have chosen the character "Tony Stonem" . I have chosen this character as he is the typical representation of a teenage boy this is evident through his cocky character traits and the way he goes through life. this series shows the bad stereotype of how teenager are and how they are depicted. This represents people at this age as being destructive and self centered this is also evident through various other characters in this series.

My second example of how age is represented is seen through the use of the character  Jack from the TV series "Father Ted"  in this series the elderly character of jack is represented as a drunk and deluded character this is evident through the use of his character only being able to say certain words and through the use of him only able to understand certain actions . This depicts elderly people as being unable to function and also that the are unable to stay stable unless they are indulging in something and in the case of the character jack he is unable to face reality so he drinks.

Analyse genre: Documentaries

Documentary

Typical Examples

Planet earth -2006
Life -2009
Life on earth -1979
The blue planet -2001
The life of mammals -2002 to 2003

I have picked a scene from the 2006 Planet Earth episode one (voiced by David attenborough).
In the genre of documentary the typical subject and layout of a documentary would be an animal watching one such as the example i have chosen Planet Earth and the other ones i have listed above. this genre is usually narrated by a well known person of this genre such as David attenborough or even ones voiced over by celebrities such as the South Pacific which was voiced by various different people. This particular documentary has various episodes which cover up a 50 minuet span. in the case of animal documentaries it takes a considerable amount of time to film due to certain rare findings of animals and unseen moments such as in the video below. There many different types of genre in documentary such as crime documentaries or story documentaries and even the animal documentaries i am using.

Planet earth :

Hungry polar bear surprises a seal - The Hunt: Episode 2 Preview - BBC One

In this scene David attenborough narrates how polar bares barely catch there pray and n the case of the polar bare we see he is extremely skinny due to not being to lucky with catching his pray. As it unfolds in the documentary David narrates every action taken by the polar bare such as when the clip start he starts telling us why he is so skinny this shows that he is informing use on whats going on and also why this is happening, the soul objective for a documentary is to inform us on hidden truths or things that we wouldn't know ourselves. In a way documentaries answer questions that we want to ask such as at the start of the clip we see a obviously skinny polar bare and because we have never seen this before these are things that the creators of documentaries thinks about and due to this they incorporate the answers this is why this type of documentary is purely information based.

People watch these types of documentaries because they want to know certain things and may see this as interesting also the way it is displayed such as graphics and film quality makes a big difference in what you watch for instance if you was watching it in bad quality you are most likely to just stop due to it maybe being blurry or poor sound quality and for documentaries such as this the sound and visual qualities have to be top notch. This is set in the antarctic due to that being the thing of topic at this point in time in the documentary. In a documentary you are telling someones story or informing someone of something.

The main audience for this would be the aspirer this is due to it giving knowledge and information and the main goal for the aspirer is to succeed. older people would have been draw to this in the past and still are but now more teenagers and even some kids aged 10-12 are watching more animal based documentaries this is due to more and more people being intrigued by them. The overall age of the audience for these types of documentaries is around 15-50 this is so wide spread due to over the years more kids and teens are watching more shows/documentaries such as this one so the age gape of the audience keeps growing.

Planet earth :

Wolves hunting Caribou - Planet Earth - BBC

With this scene from Planet earth it shows a time laps effect this is used to show a long period of time in one short few second clip such as that scene may have taken hours to film but they sped it up and condensed it into mere seconds this is efficient in documentaries such as this because you may need to show a certain point in the filming to show what is going on but it may take long to do so they condense it to save time and because even though they may need to show it it could still be a small and insignificant part of the overall story.

in this they also used a helicopter to show a over head view of whats going on in the sequence this is also used to save time due to it taking a long time to do this on the ground. in this they used various panning shots to show how big a thing is such as in the case of the video it would be to show how wide spread the hard of caribou are.

In this genre of documentaries voice over is always used as they are unable to do it wail filming. The voice overs could be in person this is seen in the new planet earth 2 voiced by David attenborough.
In this series they use various camera angles and camera shots that are always changing to focus and un focus on specific events in the show. They have used various close up to make you feel as if you are there watching the animals your selves.

Johnny Depp text analysis

TEXT ONE:

This image is of a magazine cover for people magazine i have chosen this because it portrays Johnny Depp as attractive and handsome this is seen by the chosen words beside the main image the sub heading states " Johnny Depp sexiest man alive!" the use of the explanation point emphasizes what they are stating and makes it seem more powerful this also seen through the other celebrity images being much smaller than his this could be stating and pointing out his importance and maybe even his appearance and image in the media.

In the film industry he is seen as a genius and top notch actor the use of the well known actor Ryan Reynaldes (who stared in many resent films such as Deadpool and is staring in a new film called life) and Robert Pattinson (well known for the role of Edward in the twilight sagas and many more)also appearing on this magazine Core shows how Johnny Depp is much higher in stardom due to the massive difference in picture size and quality of the images.
In the case of this magazine cover they have represented Johnny Depp as a a smart but attractive man this is seen due to the photographer taking a picture with his to few buttons undone also the simple style and colour could indicate and emphasis his normal appearance even though he is a celebrity this could in turn make him seem more approachable and inviting to readers ,consumers.

TEXT TWO :

In this film trailer Johnny Depp plays the quirky and crazy character of the mad hatter. He usually goes for more crazy and unusual roles this is seen in the voice of victor in the corps bride and many more animated, real life movies made and directed by Tim Berton his chose of roles could also represent him as well such as if we see him movie roles evolving around comedy and craziness we may start to associate him with this character and character traits of his chosen roles.

The way he portrays and works on his created character persona this could indicate how he is presented as hard working. In this his overall representation is seen as crazy and unpredictable due to the nature of his character/role.

This media may viewed by people who know Johnny Depp by his many other film. He is somewhat meant to be in movies done by Tim Berton due to his frequent appearance in them and due to this people have represented him as being put in the role of odd and difficult characters.

TEXT THREE:

This magazine cover shows Johnny Depp in one of his many roles this specific character role is from a film called  lone ranger. In this magazine it is evident that the main image is the front layer this is seen by the mast head and sub heading are played slightly behind the front image this could determine that the image is the main point of focus this is also evident due to it being placed in the middle of the magazine if you go by the rule of thirds.

The importance is also evident through the use of the encoder adding his name (in bold and bigger than the other headings) this represents him as important. The use of him being in that costume would be to promote his new film also it could show how committed to his roles he is. The position he is can depict him as confident and maybe even outgoing this is also evident by his confident stare right into the camera. Another depiction of confident and strength is seen through his deliberate posture of his shoulders , the position of his shoulders makes him seem intimidating and strong due to the viability of his upper arm muscles.

This medium long shot shows all of his upper body to symbolize he is not some one to mess with. The way the camera man has taken this photo it allows us to feel as if we are being looked at by him due to his fixed eye contact to the camera this could also show you the persona of the character he is playing and dressing up as for this magazine.

TEXT FOUR:

In this magazine cover it shows him standing next to his former wife . The sub heading nasty divorce is the main thing evident on this cover due to it being fully white on a mainly black/ dark blue background this makes it promptly stand out also this is directed at Johnny Depp so in this he is represented as nasty and maybe even bad due to the encoders chosen word

Choosing that certain picture makes this magazine seem controversial due to the image depicting him as happy this goes against what the sub heading is stating this also goes against it due to the  severity and importance of the bad news of the divorce.

In this image he is seen wearing a black and dark blue suit this is usually representative of a funeral or sadness/something to commemorate. The encoders has added in the left hand corner two other stories and one is stating that a couple will get married this makes Johnny Depp seem and bad and he is represented as evil due to him doing something wrong in the marriage.

Fashion Magazine Analysis

The general audience for this magazine would be female teens  this is due to the masthead which says "seventeen" this magazine cover shows us that it is for females due to it stating to be about fashion and make up also on the cover it has some hints of what this may contain such as with the words "clear skin & flat abs" on the magazine this is all in caps and they have used a big and wide font so we would notice it to help us notice it they also used the colour pink on a very light pink background.

The mast head on this magazine is somewhat hidden due to the image being emphasised by it being brought in front ,but not just the image but the word prom in a big font and bigger font size than masthead this word even overlaps the image this shows that this word is meant to antis the viewer due to them being in there teens and also due to them being close to prom also mixed in with some other text on the magazine such as underneath the text saying prom it states "find the perfect dress for your body" so it is basically saying that they have all the ideas for prom so buy it to find out.

The colour scheme for this magazines is mainly pink and aqua but the one colour that doesn't match is the red of the dress this is to bring our attention to the celebrity wearing the dress and that is Selena Gomez to teen girls she would be there ideal person to look up to and due to the fact that there is a celebrity on the cover would antis the reader to maybe buy the next issue if they enjoyed this one. The image on this magazine is that of off a celebrity this shows how popular this magazine is or use to be and it shows an iconic young celebrity for teens to get the gossip and latest fashion. This magazine would be for the aspirer as it is talking and giving tips on fashion and this would ad to the aspirer image and social status.

Best Climate Change charity Advert

This advert appeals and can be understood by a younger audience due to it displaying the bad things as a sad story this allows for it to be seen by children. The use of the child being present in this video could show how it wont just affect the world that the older generation are in but it would also affect the younger generation due to us now destroying the world making it worst for our future children and their children and so on. This advert plays lightly on the subject by doing it in this picture formate also it gives us an in site on whats happening in the world now and what the causes it so this advert distributes information in a way we and children can understand.

Its a calm and structured advert this gives it a clean and easy to follow story as you will but it gives us all we need to know about this subject.

This advert makes use think and grasp the meaning also just like the i shouldn't be here it gives us happy stories and happy endings but also gives use a touch of reality by adding in someone who wasn't able to get the help they needed in time this gives use a reality check through the all the happy endings.

The thing that works best in this is how they use emotion and also Quick camera scenes to display these emotions. This advert alows us to infer what we need to.

Last Words, Research Saves Lives - British Heart Foundation

This advert gives yet again you a message stating that it can happen at any time and any place and that you should look out for the signs. The message gives us a sense of unease due to this information also the use of these people saying " last words" makes us think and want to take care of the people due to them going at any point.

This advert works due to getting use engaged with all thats going on also it gives use stories from many people who have known someone this has happened to.

British Heart Foundation - Heart disease is heartless

This advert pulls on our heart strings by making us feel sad and make us feel sorry for the kid  due to this happening with out any warning. This advert could be seen as a message and a warning to everyone saying that it can happen at any time with out warning or maybe with out any major signs. This advert gives a look into how it mainly affects the people around you not just the person so the subliminal message could be to even if the signs may nit be major you should still check in case it could be heart strain that would lead to heart attracts.

Watch Your Own Heart Attack Film (British Heart Foundation)

At the start of the advert it is calm not as much peaceful due to the setting being in a shack or cabin of some sort this gives some panic due to setting of horror stories being associated with these places.

With this advert it puts you in the place of the person by using first person view this makes what happens more realistic and scary due to the camera tilting and moving just like a human head would do.This makes it more personal to the person watching it such as half way through when the man is saying you feel dizzy they use first person view to their advantage when they ad that affect by using the camera and also by making it more realistic with the man in front of you seeming to be clipping and lagging due to the effect f dizziness this gives an extra sense of realism to the ad.

This ad is very informative due to it not just stating signs and things to look out for a heart attack but they also advert the actual affects to yet again make it personal to the viewer and also to show you first hand what it may be like. This is a good advert due to the information but also the shock tactics and very important message. The first one is the message it portrays and that is that not all people react to things the same so not all heart attack symptoms are the same and in this advert it advises people to not being be embarrassed about it this is a positive message and it gives it in writing at the end. It uses separate images to aid what the person is saying this allows for more tension an the viewer and maybe even urgency. In this advert they use an old man who is healthy this could also be subliminal message saying that at any age you could have a heart attack this is because the man we are looking through the perspective of is the age difference between the old man and the young man could show how it can occur at any age.

 Make poverty history advert

In this advert they are using people love for these famous actors this is a good way of making people watch it due to certain people liking certain actors. You could say that they use the actors as click bait to get people to watch this video. They put icons in this video to make us think and believe that the thing these actors are in and talking about is important. They use guilt and statistics to make us feel sad and grateful for what we got. They use the effect of black and white to associate with sadness and also a unhappy and colourless life this effect can create anticipation for what is going to happen.

The silence and lack of words could symbolise the severity of what this advert is about also the lack of words from the actors, celebrities this also shows how this is a serious matter that needs to be solved. They use the statistic to somewhat open our eyes to whats going on in the world this also ties in with the use of the black and white affect as it shows the sadness of world problems like this.

In this advert they made it pull at your heart strings to make you feel guilty and unable to help unless you donate to the charity.

What works

This advert puts pressure on you to donate through the use of the sad heart wrenching satistic and the way it was presented.

NSPCC Cartoon boy charity ad

This advert try's to use a comedic style to there advert but also this goes with the words said at the end. They use a cartoon to depict the violence the father is inflicting on the child this used to show us that children are not unbreakable and one there broken the can never be fixed this is shown by the image of the child at the bottom of the stairs not moving. They use a cartoon to make use think about all the damage the kid has sustained also to show what kids arnt and that is able to defend them selves this also shows how venerable children are due to adults being bigger and stronger this is shown through a few looming over the shoulder shots of the dads shadow over casting the child.

The use of the slogan at the end "real children dont bounce back" shows how this advert wanted us to see this advert. with the use of the cartoon it makes us not laugh like it does with other cartoons due to the situation it makes us feel sad and uncomfortable but this is what the makers of this advert intended use to feel like this is good use of shock tactics. The use of only the child being animated could suggest innocence and purity also a sense of happiness as when ever the father walks in he is doing what normal happy children do such as watch tv or play with his toys. The use of the cartoon music/sounds lapsing over the advert is to also portray a sense comedic and happy effect such as when we watch a well known cartoon such as tom and jerry we are somewhat forced to laugh at there pain due to it being a funny thing but as the father is hurting the child and the cartoon child being in the real world it makes it feel less funny and more erie.

NSPCC hands advert

this advert use animation to create a sense of calm and pleasantness also it uses an unusual art style in which relies on colour and variations of white and black to create movement and pace in this advert. The hands are depicted as helpers and helpers to this child this is sen through the use of the hand somewhat following the boy on his so called journey through this land. The message this advert is getting across is that children should be kept from harm kept from what this world is like this could be depicted by the hand holding him up and helping him from falling down this could symbolise how many routs this child could go but you could say the hands protect him from them and send him down the right path.

The use of the hands giving him food and protecting him shows what a parent should do and should act towards there child and the other paths he can go are the alternate routs.

The start when the mother combs the kids hair and also gives him a scarf is a symbol for parents clothing and giving a child a way to live this is also seen by the use of the hand sheltering the child from rain this shows how parents give there child a warm place to live, shelter these actions in the advert could be something of a check list of what you should do for your child this is also seen through the use of the hand giving the child food yet again making this video into somewhat of a checklist for parents a what to do list.

In this advert it gives a view of someone who doesn't know about this mental illness and it shows the truth. They draw you in with the beginning by showing what many see when you say the word psycho or lunatic and to many this recognised with many mental illnesses not just the one in the being presented in the video. They used many of our views at the start and they used a build up to show you that what you think isn't always what is this is shown by the juxtaposition of the start of the video to the end.

This i clearly shown by the change in atmosphere and also aura. They use the of horror due to mental illness being associated with killers and mad people this is where the stereotype of mental illness came about also this due to how they were treated in past eras. This ad puts aware ness to the way we see mentally ill people and this may have been many peoples views or forced ideologies due to parents bringing people up in that way are just influences by what other people think and how people see things such as school or friends.

They use a well known tactic in the world of horror to make use think and fear what would be behind the door and due to the words psycho and he's among us states that due to the presents of him we should be scared. People with mental illness are usually discriminated against by many people this is due to there role in horror films such as saw and friday the thirteenth the main protagonist were seen as crazy and not right in the head this implies they are mentally unwell and thats what makes them kill and this stereotype of mentally ill people makes people fear or dislike them for no reason.

Charity Ad Research 1

This ad is used to make us feel thankful for what we have and thankful that we didn't have to go trough what they went through. This advert is meant to symbolise how not all people are fortunate to have treatment or help for illnesses such as cancer and many more so you could say that this advert sort of gives us the statistics of how many live and how many die from cancer. This advert uses emotional and heart felt images such as a women with her boyfriend/husband in a restraint this implies she has a family and due to this research she is alive but the also use more shocking stuff such as a kid saying i wouldn't be here this implies that this child had/has cancer this could open the viewers eyes to the fact that any one is susceptible to cancer and also the place that is set a football pitch shows how the child is innocent and just like a normal child.

even though they are using some form of subliminal message we still know instantly that it is about death or something that could have lead to death due to them saying that they shouldn't be here. they use setting to create meaning in what is happening e.g women in restaurant this setting you could say it juxtapositions what this advert is conveying due to relationship being a new beginning but with the idea that this person i dying or could die goes against this.

They use a voice over/narration to state what this advert is about this is after the start and after all the people saying i shouldn't be here but to add in that things are still not a hundred percent they put in a women in a wedding dress saying my mum should be here this shows that even though the amount of people surviving has gone up people still die.

Week 5 movie trailer

Brothers Grimm

The trailer i am going to analyse is a well known film called the "Brothers Grimm"this film can be seen as a comedy but also due to its unusual themes and its connection to the old kids bed time stories such as red riding hood, hansel and gretel and also rapunzel these are used do to this also being fantasy i know this due to there being supernatural beings that are based on children stories also magic is real in the world of the film. Magic and witches, wizards etc are a clear sign that this is a fantasy and the light shed of humour in this is seen through there characters and the way they act tawords people due to them having to lie to get money etc.

This trailer uses short and snappy scenes of the action in the film to entise the viewer into watching this film due to the tie to kids bed time stories it can connect with many people but it still only appeals to people who enjoy this type of genre which is fantasy. The music in this is a bit sinister a the start due to them bringing out the scare and horror right of the bat this shows how they are trying to make use aware of what it is about this is why they started out with red riding hood also it is to immediately pull you into the action of the film.

Daddys Home trailer Notes

The captions show how this film revolves around the dad and the step dad and there fight for the affection of the children.

The two main characters are played by Will Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg these people are ionic in the comedy industry and in the case of mark they are also iconic in the action industry and due to them being well known to be funny this may compel people to watch it due to them knowing the characters from different comedy films such as step brothers and many more.

Will is usually played in the role of a dull but competitive people and maybe people who aint particularly right in the head this shows that the characters he plays would have that sense to them and also it may show that he has a sense of humour this shows that if you enjoy Will Ferrels persona when he is in the role of the characters then you would automatically asume that you would enjoy this film this can also be said for Mark Wahlberg.

It goes from one persons attempt at winning the kids over to the next this shows and maybe states to us that its anyones game and that any one of them can win.

Lines of Appeal

Q 1:

The first advert i am going to analyze is this cadurry advert.
I have chosen this advert due to it being unusual and full of humor if presented to the right people also it is a funny and different advert. The persuasive devises used in this ad are the use of  the catchy and well known song this would attract people of the older generation as well as the young due to the song being old but well known to even most teenagers. The song gives us something to relate to and all connect to old and young people therefor this advert would appeal to wide range of older people due to the song but also the use of the actors used. The actors used in this advert are somewhat of old age this would also appeal to a more older generation i know this through the use of the clothes they are wearing. They are waring old style clothes to not so much appeal to the young generation like the many other cadbury adverts the which have young actors such as the eyebrows advert.

This advert would appeal to people in the 1c and below classes due to the chocolate being affordable and very well known to world population. This advert may appeal a little to groupies due to cadburys bringing out so many unusual and loved adverts also this may come up in there friends discussion due to it being well known also it would give them and there friends a topic and also maybe a better connection and if some viewers are aspires this would allow them to keep status and stay in there group.

Q 2:
Macdonald's slogan

  Image result for mcdonald's slogan

The use of this advert may be talking about when people try there food such as they maybe saying that after we have eaten there food that this is what we are going to say. The use of the word " I'm" in tales that the are referring to the person eating it and yet again portraying that this is what we will be saying once we have eaten Macdonald's.This also putting it in to the perspective of the people by using a personal pronoun of " I'm".

The use of the word " lovin" is an abbreviation of the word loving this shows that due to teens abbreviation of words such as LOL and so many more this shows that the target audience for this food could be aimed at teens also the use of the word lovin states that we as the consumers would love and enjoy this food. The word " It" is referring to the food and that it is telling and stating that we would enjoy there food.

They use the personal pronoun to state that no matter what you would enjoy this food also it involves the consumer in a wide spread company and gives the consumer the sense of enjoyment and connection.

Q 3:

 Nobody’s Children Foundation

Nobody’s Children Foundation

This campaign uses strong and shocking images to portray how children are not only physical hurt but mentally as well. They use the children braking as a metaphor of  how  dolls can easily brake if you ain't caring and kind this is shown through the use of the children's body parts braking .

They used shock tactics to gain the attention of people and to make people aware of whats going on in the world and how you can make a contribution and effort to stopping it.They use guilt as a weapon to incise and guilt trip people into donating and help were you can.

They use the words " You would lose more than your patients " to make use think and figure out what they mean such as this allows them to again guilt trip you into helping due to them saying that some kids may die from this and if you don't help than you are a horrible person  this is what this message make people think.

Q 4:

Image result for stereotyping advertising

In this advert they are stereotyping men by the caption " who said men cant multi-task" this is stating that men cant multi task and is discriminating the way men are and how women can. This statement has been around for many years and obviously hasn't been proven but due to them using this in there advert may give way to the stereotype again.

This text portrayed men as unable to do things and could even link back to how they say women can multitasking due to them doing house work so this stereotype then links in with another one that is the poll-are opposite of this one.

Q 5 and 6:

Cartoon character Top Cat stars in latest Halifax mortgage advert

In this advert they used a well known cartoon from the 1960 this is used because people who need a mortgage may generally be older and may know this show also due to top cat being seen in our days more children and people know about this is a good intellectuality and it is used to as a persuasive  technique such as to link back to your child hood  and to also give you a sense of nostalgia.

This gives the viewer a way to the past by them showing such an old show series also it gives older people a chance to think about the past and also due to more kids knowing who they are the kids would point it out to there parents when it comes on.

This show represents fun and happiness to the past generation and also it could give them a sense of comfort in this changing world this also could show and give them the sense that they can rely on Halifax due to the appearance of top cat and his crew. The use of them using cartoon in the real world shows difference and intellectuality.

Q 7:

Image result for shocking drug addiction advert foundation

This advert shows a shocking picture of a women on the floor with dirty clothes on and a dirty house with needles etc next to here. The shocking part of this is that the have put a picture over the top of this bad and horrific image this can show that this may have been the person as a child all innocent and protected and it could be saying that this could be you or anyone no matter what gender or age. This is also stating that this is happening and that this could happen to any one even someone you know or even love and if you don't donate or help in some way it could be stating that you are doing nothing to prevent this and that this may happen to some one due to you not helping this makes you feel a sense of guilt and it almost forces you to help .

The punishment for this is that if you don't help they portray  it as you have done this to them and also seeing the picture of the child may guilt you into complying this is because the picture of the child is bright and innocent and it contradicts the way the room is this  is a juxtaposition because you can clearly see that a child doesn't belong in a place like this. The reword would be that you would feel a sense of pride thinking that you donating may save someones life.

Dexter Reception Theory

Q1:  This TV series is about a person called Dexter (who is the main protagonist) who has been through a very hard childhood due to his parents being killed as he was a child and when they were killed him and his older brother was trapped in a shipping container where there death took place this made him in his adult life out to be a psychopath and his erg to kill people and emotionless thoughts grew as he got older but when he was put into the care of  the police officer who found him he was told to use his talents and erg to punish the evil and the bad that he finds around him in his unusual job as a blood splatter expert.

This series would be put under drama and may even be horror due to the constant death, the specific target audience for this would be the explorer due to it being a common gory drama it has that unusual idea that even a psychopathy can help people.the ideal target audience form this would be someone with time on there hands due to each episode being 45 minuets also with it having 8 seasons in total.

Q2: The preferred reading for this piece of text is that it may give the vibe to viewers or viewers under the viewing age ideas or it may scare them about the outside world. This text shows that the bad guy always loses due to dexter getting them and killing them also it shows how things aint always as they seem on the outside and that you may have to dig deeper. It could also give us the ideology that murder and other things such as torture are expectable.

Q3:  an oppositional reading for this text might be that they may see how this TV show is trying to portray that the death of a bad person is justified but they may see this and agree but they may also see any type of death or fiendish act as evil and unnecessary  this may be due to religion,family/the way they were brought up in there house hold and they even may be saying this certain opinion to go with what every one else is saying such as going with the social norm. There also may be personal experience that may give them that opinion of that subject.

This TV text is mainly showing violence and if certain people were brought up not condoling violence this may be difficult for them to enjoy a TV show such as Dexter due to it high violence and death.

The edge of tomorrow film review (audience)

This film is about a marine officer who has no military experience and due to that he hides behind his position due to him not having to go on the front lines. In this world they are at war with vaguely known aliens but due to one of the alpha aliens blood getting on him he lives that one day when he gets sent to the front lines to fight these monsters. In till he can kill the core he will carry on doing this over and over again. with this films unusual plot and story line it would mainly fit into the explorer.

First due to it being an unusual film and plot this would appeal to the explorer also this is a new kind off thing even for a Sci-Fi genre because it links in with the real world we are in and such things as war and real problems. This also plays on the character not being good at combat or fighting this unusual because the lead of most alien movies have some sort of skill if even a little but the lead of this film had non but gained it through the film.

This could also be for the mainstream due to it linking and taking ideas from films such as groundhog day and independence day. This is seen through them taking the idea off restarting the day over and over again and also it takes away that the character can stop things from happening and that the main character can affect the future they wake up in ,in this sense you could say that it may be more mainstream than explorer.

This film could also link into main stream because it covered by a few genres such as Sci-Fi, action, military etc, also even if the plot is unusual it is a common alien movie and follows that plot and sequence such as the main character is in danger and find the power through others or them self and defeat the aliens and save the world.

Supernatural TV show review

Firstly i started watching this when i was ten after it was highly recommended by my dad and since then more and more seasons have came out so now there are 12 seasons and there is no sign they are going to stop there. The genre for this TV program is mainly horror but also contains some action and drama.

The plot of this film is that there are a par of two brothers one is called Dean winchester (the older brother) and then there is Dam winchester (younger brother) they both are hunters but not deer or bear hunters but demon and monster hunters this is where the horror aspect of it comes into play.So these two brothers are in search of there dad but run into monsters on the way this is how it all begins.

The purpose of this TV show is to show difference in the paranormal/ supernatural genre/ way of things such as in other movies such as grudge, paranormal activity etc the are hunted by them and are unable to defend there self but in this program it is reversed and instead of  the people being scared of the monster hunting them but instead the monster are the ones afraid of being hunted by the people.

The main target audience for this text is explorers this is due to the unusual way the horror, death and gore has been shown  and presented in this media text. This would be for the explorer because it is different and it doesn't repeat its self that much so new adventures would come up in  every episode and unusual  stories such as bloody Mary has been brought to life this gives it a more exciting vibe.

My reaction to this text is that i thought as soon as i watched it that it was incredible this is due to me loving horror, gore and supernatural themes in films and TV shows. This is why i have brought all of them on box set this is because i enjoy the genre of it also i enjoy the themes and real scary legends that are in it such as bloody Mary, the hook man and even the  wolf man so i enjoyed this text because it appealed to my taste and may appealed to certain other people with the same taste in TV shows.

Some people may act in different ways to this text due to there personal preference of genre such as some people may think that it is to scary and may be frightened but some may think it isn't as scary and may not enjoy it and as i said it always comes down to the personal preference of the consumer/audience.
