Nick laceys representing Gender

Representing gender
Quote: 'Womens freedom is now often expressed in consumerist terms: the traditional image of the 'wife-mother-housewife' is now being replaced by images of sexually assertive, confident and ambitious ways'
Summary: Womens roles in film are now changing due to the roles women now have in society but i still think that it is a negative representation of women as now they're seen as 'sex objects' and also even though it quotes women as 'confident' men still seem to take more confident and dominant roles in film.

Quote: 'Men act and women appear. Men look at women. Women watch themselves be looked at'
Summary: This quote shows that women are still being used as sex objects and are therefore no over reason than to be looked at by men. This also shows that men are dominant over than them as they are seen as 'acting' unlike women who are there just to be looked at.

Quote: "Women and men are shot differently by looking at cross dressing films." women are used to show her 'body' whilst the men are shown as 'awkward'.
Summary: This shows that the main reason for women in film is to be looked at whilst they films make humour out of men cross dressing so this shows that women are used for mens sexual desire whilst cross dressers are there to be laughed at.

Quote: "Men are filmed as part as the environment"
Summary: This shows that men aren't supposed to stand out from the crowd unlike women who are there to be looked at whilst men are there to be part of a crowd and not be looked at.

Quote: In the 'Cyberworld' womens avatars are shown with large breasts but mens avatars are there to show masculinity
Summary: This shows that again women are used for the body parts and are seen as 'sexual objects' but men are shown as 'masculine' so this shows that men again are shown to be dominant over women as women are just being used for her body parts but a man is used to show his dominance.
