Media Diary Week 3

This week is Audience Classification week!

Choose any text that you have consumed this week and explain who the audience is, simple as that!

However...


  1. You must use the four different models for defining the audience
  2. You must give reasons for your decisions based on evidence from the text




this sounds pretty simple but there are some pit falls that people fall into...

Remember...

  • that if you are analysing and advert that you are not analysing the product

  • the 4Cs model uses metaphors i.e. you do not have to be an actual explorer to be part of the Explorer audience type

  • you are looking at who the audience are not the characters or celebrities in the text i.e. a text with a load of rich people in it is not necessarily targeting the 'A's from the Income/Status model or the Succeeder from the 4Cs
