- Women
- Youth
- Masculinity
- India
- Poverty
- Characters (Jamal, Salim, Latika)
In pairs, create a page on the blog that examine's the representation of one of the ideas above...
- Start by discussing how you both feel that group/concept/place has been represented - brainstorm some ideas.
- Between you, think of some key scenes which illustrate the points you have made.
- Divide these scenes up between you (at least two each) and write a paragraph of analysis which proves the points you are making*
- Embed some video clips from the movie which help prove your point (preferably the scenes you discuss
- Include images that help us visualise he points you are making
- Label with both of your names and Representation in Slumdog Millionaire
*Remember to use evidence to back up your points from any of the following...
- Appearance, dress codes, cultural signifiers
- Framing, editing and music
- Characters, attitudes, dialogue
- Stereotypical, traditional, challenging representations
- Theoretical perspectives e.g. Gauntlett, Dyer, Lacey, Mulvey etc
- Use clips of the film to illustrate points, the exam board will be expecting examples!
Hint: the best paragraphs will use a combination of several of these.
Be thorough and make this page insightful, interesting and thorough - it will be used as a revision resource for the rest of the group!
