Production, Background & Context

Before you can begin to understand the factors which affected the production of the film, you need to do some research into some of the key players who made the film happen.
These are the creators of the original comic book...
  • Mark Millar
  • John Romita Jr.
Those that made the film...
  • Matthew Vaughn
  • Jane Goldman

You also need to do a little bit of research on the original comic books themselves and what happened to make this a film.

This list of questions should be answered and then you can use the resources below to help you find the answers...

  • What were the origins of the movie?
  • How much was the budget?
  • What studios were involved?
  • How was the movie funded?
  • How did they make a comic book movie into a live action film?
  • Was the comic changed at all?
  • What was the casting process?
  • Did Vaughn have complete control?
  • What limitations were there to making this film?
  • How did they achieve the 'look' that they wanted?
  • How were special effects used?

Not all of those questions will be answered by the information available here - but it should be a great starting point for making notes and for answering the question:
