All four Oscar winners are obviously sharing a moment of joy following their win. Their laughter allows the viewer to see that they all are extremely comfortable with each other, and they now share something special between each other. The picture creates somewhat of an elitist idea as it feels as though we are looking in on elitist circle that only very few people ever enter. The positioning of the four stars, with Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway in the centre puts a focus on them both, them being framed by the two male actors. This also could suggest that they are the two most important out of the four, allowing the viewer to scrutinise them in-particular. This scrutiny has become somewhat of a tradition of the Oscars; it is the females in which the focus is on, with everything from their hair to the toenails being zoomed in on.
The glamour of the situation is made all too apparent by the golden Oscar statues being another central focus of the scene. This draws significance as to the prestige of the scenario, as this isn't just any award show, it is the Mother of them all. The way in which the photo has been cropped shows only the four stars; Daniel Day-Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, and Christoph Waltz. This suggests the idea that the other awards aren't as memorable or as important as these (Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress), and that these four awards are the most important.
