1a. The Mainstream Audience

The mainstream audience are the most popular or most common audience type. The media they commonly consume is usually the most popular TV shows that are known as the 'social norm'. They also would buy the most popular newspapers and the most popular magazines and generally their choice on media on based on 'fitting in'. An example of a show they would probably watch is Big brother as it is widely viewed and talked about.

The Succeeder is normally the type of person who considers themselves a success in life, usually got a highly paid job and see themselves above others in a sense. The succeeder will constantly try to consume the media that is aimed at smarter/more successful people because that's who they are. A show that would be a good example for the succeeder would be DragongsDen as they could relate with the dragons on the show who are succesful business men and women.

The explorer will constantly be looking around for new and unique media texts for them to consume. The explorer likes shows which are different to others and seen as 'unique'. An example of a show the explorer might like is The Mighty Boosh because the show is unique to other sit coms and takes a certain sense of humor to understand the sketches.

The Aspirer's main aim in life is to look and be attractive. The Aspirer never wears 'cheap' clothing and always wears the top brands which are the most expensive, the aspirer likes to show of its wealth with their appearance  A media text the Aspirer would consume is Vogue magazine as it shows off a certain rank of class and is more expensive than other magazines.

Personally, I find the models quite useful because it is easy to put someone into a category and then from that you know how to advertise something that you are wanting them to consume.

Name of text: Top Gear
Audience Gender: Male and Female
Age range:16-60
Id say that Top Gear fits into the mainstream category as it is a hugely popular show that is talked about all across the world. It is also comedic and informative.
