Film Review:Life Of Pi
I recently watched the film Life Of Pi after being impressed by the novel written by Yann Martel. The film completely did the book justice and was overall fantastic.
The story revolves mainly around one Character 'Pi' an Indian in his late teens and how he loses his family after a storm hits as they are sailing to France, the film shows how Pi copes with being shipwrecked on a lifeboat with a Tiger, Hyena, Zebra and a Monkey.

The acting throughout the film is superb but Suraj Sharma who plays Pi is in a class of his own with a brilliant performance throughout the film, I could feel the emotion from him when he has to leave his family behind on the sinking ship. The director Ang Lee did very well on special effects as the animals were mostly computer generated.

Although the film is fantastic there were a few factual errors that I noticed such as if the animals were on a boat for so long they would probably either die or eat eachother or Pi in which they do not in this film.

Some of the scenes in the film took my breath away such as when the Whale jumps out of the water to an astounding height right next to Pi's lifeboat, The lighting in the film was also superb as some of the plants were illuminous underneath the sea which really shown the nature and how Pi was surrounded by nature.

The rating I would give this film is an 8/10 purely due to the acting skills of Suraj Sharma as this was his first acting role and also due to the use of effects such as the animals.
