Lupe Fiascos #1234 Music Video

This music video by Lupe Fiasco, is really three music videos for three different songs all into one to sort of create a story with a message to the audience. The video itself is very thought provoking and it does really make you think about what the message is Lupe is trying to convey.

Status and Income Model

Using the Status and Income model, I feel like this video could be aimed at all groups. The purpose of the video is to educate and inform, and I don't feel like it is purposely aimed at a particularly group of people using this model, as I think its aim to educate all. However, I do think it would appeal more to group B down to group E. This is because I feel like that's about were most of Lupe Fiasco's fans would be in this model.

I believe this text would be aimed at The Reformer, as well as The Explorer. The Reformers core need in life is for enlightenment and are often perceived as intelligent. This music video definitely provides enlightenment, and I feel you would need intelligence to fully be able to decipher this video. I believe it would also be targeted at the Explorer because their core need in life is for discovery. They are always looking for something new, and unique. This video is definitely unique as there won't be another one out there remotely similar.

Lifestyle Categories

This text would appeal to Innovators and Utopians and maybe even Cynics. Innovators aim to make their mark on the world, which is another thing I believe Lupe Fiasco is aiming to achieve with this video. The Innovator perhaps could be inspired by this video and maybe even then do something themselves to attempt to make their mark on the world. Utopians are people who want to make the world a better place. Like in the majority of Lupe Fiasco related texts, he is attempting to accomplish this in this text also.  Again, I feel this could inspire Utopians and maybe lead them to do something they believe will make the world a better place. Many people believe that Lupe Fiasco complains too much in his work, so this perhaps could appeal to Cynics, as the video is sort of complaining about society.

Uses and Gratification Model

This text also fits part of the Uses and Gratifications Model. It mainly provides information, as I believe the main purpose of the text it to educate and inform. It provides the audience with information, leaving them to decipher the messages inside the video and maybe even form their own opinions on the messages in the video. It will also provide some audience members with Personal Identity. Some may just be Lupe Fiasco fans so they have an attachment to the video already, or maybe because they can see themselves in the video. It also provides Entertainment, because for the first three or four minutes, we see the same thing. So that makes you want to know what the rest of the video is going to be like, which I feel is also little bit humorous at times. It then also fulfils the need of Social Interaction. Personally, I discussed this video with my friends and about its possible meanings, so I'm certain many others have done the same thing.
