Media Diary - Week 4

The Text that Changed My Life... Red Dead Redemption

There are many reasons why Red Dead Redemption changed my life but the biggest has got to be because I played it with my dad. For a good year Red Dead was our father-daughter bonding experience, a bit unconventional to say the least but we have always enjoyed spending time together and being an only child meant we could play it uninterrupted. Also my mum certainly didn't mind us getting out of her hair for a few hours. To this day we have 'in jokes' about the game and it has certainly made us very picky when it comes to finding a good game because it is so fantastic and vast! We enjoyed the free roam aspect of it the most though because that meant we could carry the story out even longer. I've got to say though when it came to the end of the game we were very upset. We completed the game twice after that up until the release of the DLC Read Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. It was as if the game was made for us! We have always had a shared love of zombies so Undead Nightmare was just the best DLC ever to be made in our eyes. It incorporated an undead John Marston, zombies, the 4 horses of the apocalypse and even sasquatches. Red Dead Redemption changed the way I perceived games, the way I played them and even who I played them with. It has got to be my all time favourite game... Ever!
