The Media Text that Changed my Life

The Media Text that Changed my Life
The album 'Dark Side of The Moon' by Pink Floyd recently changed my life. It changed my life as now I see other music as artistic and creative texts not just as a luxury. I realised that to make music is an art. It takes mastery of this art to create an album as good as this. Dark Side of The Moon is the most successful rock album of all time. I think this might be because of the stunning guitar and saxophone solos, powerful drum sequences and mesmirisng vocals.  Every track on the album represents hardwork and sheer passion for music as every single bell, tap or note is specifically placed to give it a sense of perfectness.

I first was introduced to the song 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' in the film 'Exit the Dragon, Enter the Tiger'. I done research and found the name of the song. The original version of this song is 14 minutes long but I endured it very easily as Pink Floyd had made it so easy to listen too. As a matter of fact ever song on this album is easy to listen too. Progressive Rock was exactly what I was missing in my life as I am bored with the looping and tedius pop and chart songs. As I beoome a fan of the album, songs started coming out while with friends, requests to Djs and playing it around my house. My dad didn't mind as he also loved this album from 1973. Whenever I was asked what my favourite music was I always used to shy away from the truth and choose a recently released chart song. Its now become a guilty pleasure and I am more comfortable about admitting it however it annoys me when people tell me they have never heard of it.

Every song on the album is seemless, mesmirising and prolific. I have the full album at home, and on all my devices. My favourite song, Shine on You Crazy Diamond is written in honour of Syd Barret. the original vocalist of Pink Floyd. Syd was forced to leave as he was becoming mentally unstable due to drug abuse. David Gilmour in to replace him lit the album on fire with his talents of guitar solos and great vocals. The album became the ultimate relaxer and changed me emtionally as I listened to it. I wouldn't speak and let the whole performance sink in.
