Representations of Women: Research

Traditionally now women are shown to care about their physical health and their body shape, there is a traditional  body shape of women in media nowadays which is the ‘hourglass’ shape with a slim waist and curvy features.

This magazine cover shows Elsa Pataky, star of Fast and Furious 6, who has this traditional body shape. The cover also shows subtitles for storys on how to have better sex, which shows how in the 21st century woman are more open about sex and promiscuous.

Adele is one of todays most 'popular' anti traditional women, she doesn't fit with the stereotypical body type of most women in the popular music industry, she also doesn't appear in skimpy clothing an her videos which has became a traditional aspect of pop music.
