The daily star is a tabloid newspaper with the purpose of entertaining the target audience. The target audience for this newspaper would be the Mainstream audience as well as the Aspirer. It fits into the mainstream category as it is a popular newspaper with a cheap value and these individuals follow well-known established brands. However the audience of this newspaper can also be the aspirer as this features a variety of celebrities, who the audience feel they want to be the same as. The aspirer responds to what other people perceive of them, therefore their image and appearance is important, which coincides with the front cover of this newspaper. It has an image of Colleen Rooney, a well known footballers wife, looking happy with an appealing self-image therefore this can engage the aspirer to read this.
This newspaper has considered various values to engage their audience; they have included the relatable value as it mentions about the Grand National which is more than likely close to home for the reader and a place where many of them may have attended.
