In the post I am going to be writing a review on my favourite film, and one both myself and IMDb see as the best film ever made, the Shawshank Redemption.

The Shawshank Redemption, based on the novella Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redmption, written by Stephen King, is about Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a hotshot banker who was wrongly convicted for murdering his wife and her lover. He is incarcerated in the infamous Shawshank prison, where he encounters anguish and misfortune. However, he also encounters solace friendship, through his new friend, 'Red' (Morgan Freeman) . Red is the 'man who knows how to get things' and him and Andy make an immediate connection.

No only do the characters have a connection; but the actors themselves have brilliant chemistry, and you can see it on screen. Both Morgan Freeman's and Tim Robbins' acting is superb, and it was to no surprise the amount of awards both the actors and director (Frank Darabont) won. Both actors were oscar nominees for best acting performance and Darabont nominated for an oscar for best writing.

In conclusion I believe this film gained all it's success because of the superb acting, incredible directing and heartwarming storyline.
