1. This advert uses humor in a few ways. The advert features old women who are given a gift of fiery Irn Brew, the camera enters a close up of the women so we can see their initial reaction to the can of fiery irn brew, we then see the women begin to swear before the camera cuts to the next women. This is a juxtaposition as we dont think of swearing when we see old women. This advert targets mainstreams as family is impportant to them and the idea of imagining their nan/grandmother swearing because of a can of fiery irn brew will be funny to them, secondly because Irn Brew is a respect brand and company that has become mainstream due to its popularity and longevity.
This advert features the slogan Impossible is Nothing, this is a good slogan firstly because it is short and simple making it easier to remember for the audience, secondly because it acts as a motivation tool for the audience which is where the athlete features in goes so well. Muhammad Ali was a world famous boxer whos charisma and skill helped him be regarded worldwide as one of the greatest boxers of all time. He achieved what some would consider an impossible dream by becoming the heavyweight boxer champion of the world. This reinforces the slogan that if Muhammad Ali can achieve his dream you can achieve yours,.. by wearing Adidas.
This advert uses shock tactics with a baby who appears to be injecting himself with a drug. This is shocking firstly due to surroundings the baby surrounds himself in, the room he looks in looks dark and cold and is defintley not the place for a baby to grow up. The advert makes us relate to the child and care more about the baby by simply giving him the name John Donaldson. A baby being surrounded by drugs and in a horrible setting is a juxtapositon to what we normally associate babies with.
This advert targets a mainstream audience by using the well know film Snow White and a Seven Dwarves. the advert targets the mainstream as a mainstreamers cares deeply about family and snow white is a popular family film. The advert uses intertextuality by referencing the dwarves as Snow White is hitchhiking for a ride as the dwarves took the Volvo which features seven seats.
This advert features footballing legend and world famous celebrity David Beckham. He represents exclusivity and prestige while also connecting with standard people due to his normal background. The advert showcases a product featurng the name of David Beckham which gives a feeling that if it is good enough for David Beckham it is good enough for everyone. The advert also features David Beckham eye contact while being relaxed which gives a warm feeling to the advert
