the death of Osama Bin Laden in 2011 sparked world wide news stories all over the globe for weeks after his death, the man who led al-Qaeda and was responsible for the death of thousands of men, women and children has finally been assassinated by an anonymous group of american specialised soldiers. In this clip, Barack Obama, the president of the United States, officially announces his death. The speech is mediated in a way to focus on the bad that Osama has done in order to unite the american people as  one against the enemy who was responsible for the events of 9/11. Obama uses phrases such as 'love of community and country' and the personal plural pronoun 'we' to suggest that the success of bringing Bin Ladin to justice was a joint effort between the people and the armed services. This clip celebrates the event as a victory and a time to rejoice in the thought of safety from terrorism. Throughout the entire announcement the camera is positioned slightly to the left of Obama as he looks straight ahead while speaking, this connotes that he is looks forward towards a safer and brighter future for America and presents him as a strong leader against the war on terrorism, reinforcing the prosperity of America.
