Media blog film review - Love, Rosie

Love, Rosie is a light hearted romantic comedy that I enjoy just as much as the next teenage girl/cry baby, with the stereotype story line of girl loves boy and boy loves girl, but neither will admit it. It is full of ups where you think everything is going perfect, then downs when you think nothing could get worse for Lilly Collins (Rosie) and Sam Claflin (Alex). The pair have a well established, somewhat believable relationship onscreen but the spark fades, giving a different feel by the end of the film which was quite disappointing. As the film goes on it becomes slightly repetitive and obvious what is about to happen, which ruins the whole surprise element I anticipate in films. The overall storyline of the film could of been improved slightly as I found it not unrealistic but not very believable compared to other popular films of the same genre. The themes throughout the film are very typical but I enjoyed nonetheless. The main three that carry on throughout are love, heartbreak and friendship, but what else would you expect in a rom com about boy and girl? The friendship theme is my favourite because it shows Rosie and Alex as being true best friends and soul mates who always end up back together whether it's through friendship, love or both. I also like the whole "if it's meant to be it will be" concept throughout the film, but that is what I think makes it all so predictable, because you come to grasp that they are meant to be from the beginning to end of the film. Overall, I enjoyed Love, Rosie but I would only recommend it to those who love a cheesy, gives you butterflies in your tummy rom com.
