Media Diary Week 1, Vogue Magazine Cover Review

I will be deconstructing the magazine cover Vogue. First of all the title block is large and bold which attracts the consumers eye and draws in attention.  Vogue is a French Magazine giving the idea that it is elegant as Paris is the fashion capital of the world so with Vogue being a fashion magazine it shows it will be very classy and up to date. In addition to this the models head is coving part of the title showing the title must be very memorable and well known as the posed model is more important than the actual name of the magazine.

On the cover the central protagonist is Kate Upton she is a good model to use as she is well known and also an actress, in addition to this Kate is giving a direct mode of address which will attract a consumer as they will feel a personal bond with the model on the cover rather than if the model was looking in a different direction. This magazine would easily sell as Kate is in a bikini which is very revealing and her chest is very much on show, this will attract a female target audience as they will want to know how to get a beach body like that and there may be ways on how to achieve that look inside.

The main cover lines of the magazine are “Beach chic” this will attract the women who are getting ready for summer and want the latest fashion and trends. The strap lines are “the ultimate guide to glamour in the sun” and “30 all-star summer buys” these show that the magazine has the advantage over all the others as it has a better incite to the latest looks and trends. In addition to this the colour coding of the magazine is very typical for a woman magazine as it is very pink and pastel which also links to the summer vibes that the magazine give off. However this is in contrast with some black straplines which add a level of dominace to the magazine as it demands the attention of the consumer.

Overall I think this magazine is good as Kate really does stand out as well as the strap lines, cover lines and title block as the background is very plain and pure and all you can see is the sand beneath of Kate this adds a very elegant edge and will attract a large female target audience.
