Media Diary Week 3

This week I sat down with my cousin to watch the very popular Disney animation 'Frozen', yes, you may say this film was originally made for young children, but there are some aspects that could refer to an older audience. There are many innuendos and key parts of the film that most young children would not understand. Anyone can watch and enjoy this film if they love light-hearted comedy and are able to deal with a sad snowman.

Income/Status Model.
Due to the fact that this is targeted towards children, I can't say that it fits into any place on this method of categorising audiences, the only way I could see this fitting in is in the Student category, which is the lowest level of income. However this model is very unreliable as a way of categorising audiences, it does not take into account personal situations and not everyone can fit into the categories fully.

Audience Profiling
I could see the stereotypical audience member being a young family, as I feel that they would enjoy it more than people who don't have any kids. The people that I could see enjoying this the most are between the ages of 4-8, but from personal experience I can say I enjoyed this much more than my cousin. I don't think a difference in nation/ethnicity could change how people would perceive this film. I think this film pretty much fits into every category which is why is it such a popular film.

Young & Rubicam's 4Cs
I could see the category of 'The Mainstream' as this film is so popular between many groups of people, it would ensure that there would be something to converse about. I could also see people in the category of 'The Struggler' as this is a very easy film to watch and escape into. Both of these people want to ensure that they can have conversation topics so that they don't have to deal with any awkward silences.

Lifestyle Categories
I could see the 'Groupies' watching and also enjoying this film, as their key want in life is for acceptance from their peers, and as this is such a popular film, there is no way that people wouldn't know how to answer a question about 'Frozen'. I could also see the 'Trendies' enjoying this for mostly the same reasons, their key want is to have the admiration from their friends. If you haven't watched a very popular film people see you as 'crazy', so watching this could give you the advantage in a conversation.
