The target audience for this TV show would be the mainstream as it is all about cooking for your family and getting people together and just simply making food.. The mainstream is all about me rather than we and their core need is security and this programme can really provide this as it is all about cooking for others and getting together with family. In addition to this it is shown on the food network which is a very domestic channel on TV and is shown throughout the day possibly for stay at home mums/ housewives and or unemployed people.
I would not usually consume this media because even though I fit into the mainstream audience I also feel I fit into the aspirer audience type to. The media I usually consume is things like "The big bang theory", "The X Factor", magazines such as "Vogue" and "Elle". However I do love watching cooking shows such as "My kitchen rules" and "Master chef".
When consuming this text I take it as a preferred reading as it is all about food and what types of food people want to cook, in addition to this I take it as a preferred reading because it is all done through trial and error and these are the best ingredients to use and the best measurements so when I watch it if it gives me ideas for new things to cook or ideas for my parents to cook then it is all taken on a preferred reading. There is also the fact you can take all the information in but still choose things to do yourself if you decide to follow the recipes they all give you the opportunity to chooses different ingredients that work the same but can e better suited to the food and taste you personally like.
I think the appeal of this TV show for me is the fact that it is so mindless and you don't have to concentrate as it is the type of programme you can put on in the background as some light noise but are still able to tune into it, in addition to this I think I enjoy this as they always cook new and exciting things which aren't every day meals however they are something that could e everyday due to the simplicity of them. I also thing it appeals to me as it isn't all about cooking as Haylie goes around the USA trying new things and seeing how she can adapt them so it has a slight reality show element to it as she is always talking with her friends about the newest things and then they go back to her kitchen to cook up the latest food trends, so along with the food aspect there relatability of friendship is included in the programme.
Another guilty pleasure of mine would be Marvel movies, in particular "Spiderman". I'd say this is a guilty pleasure as it is a stereotypical nerd film so I wouldn't automatically tell people that comic book movies interest me. I enjoy this movie due to the fantasy and action aspect of it and I think all the ideas that Marvel come up with are so strange and amazing that it all just works. I also like the idea that just by simply being bitten by a spider in a lab transformed a normal boy into having the ability of a spider and becoming a super hero is so simple and yet man movies were created just due to this one idea and spiderman is one of the most well known superheroes ever. Although this movie is targeted to a mainstream audience it was once not the case but due to a rise in superhero movies this is now targeted to a mainstream audience due to the CGI, fantasy and action. I think this is targeted to the mainstream as it takes you to a completely different world as it is so far from reality.
This is not a text I would usually consume as it is very close to sci-fi and personally I hate sci-fi movies as I can never put myself into the movie and I feel I criticise them a lot as I just see it all as fake do to the amount of CGI used, however I do enjoy this movie as it is more towards the side of fantasy which I see as much more relatable and believable. In addition to this I wouldn't usually consume this type of media as I enjoy comedies and dramas much more than action but this movie along with other Marvel movies have changed my mind on that.
When consuming this text I take it as a preferred reading as I see it is much more enjoyable that way and I know myself that it is obviously not true or real however when I watch the movie I become emerged into the film and believe it as that makes the whole experience watching the movie a lot better than just sitting there and criticising it which is what I do with a lot of movies, with this movie I prefer to just be consumed by what they are showing and believe it for the short period of time it is on for.
I do not know why this film in particular appeals to me so much, I think it is mainly to do with the fact my brother loves the marvel series and the way he hypes it up is the reason I watched the first spiderman movie and loved it myself. I think that Marvel have the superhero and villain roles down perfectly and the ideas all just flow together. In addition to this I really enjoy the Harry Potter series which contains a lot of fantasy so I think I have a secret love for nerdy movies which contain a lot of fantasy in them.
