  • Discriminated against
  • United
  • Forgiving
  • Thick Skinned
  • Determined
  • Benevolent
  • Confident

The scene in which their bookshop is attacked is significant in the representation of the gay and lesbians. Even after a hate crime has been committed against them they stand united and take the positives from the situation. Determination then to fight back against the discriminators prompting the fundraising concert. This represents them as thick skinned and determined to make a change as this attack does not stop them from achieving what they have set out to do.

Dais speech to the gay community done so through a gay club Mark has taken him to is representative of the themes the gay community represent. Whilst it is believed in the gay community that Miners have a record of discrimination against homosexuals Dais speech has united both groups. This represents the gay community as forgiving and benevolent.
