Semiotic analysis.

1. The masthead used for the cover of the magazine is the name of the magazine 'Vogue' which means popular and fashionable, with is in bold red letter it stands out from the rest of the cover as its the first thing you see when reading the cover , it also stands out from the background for the shoot is white and Cara the model used is wearing a light pink and brown jacket. So the red used doesn't match anything in the cover yet it doesn't contrast with the rest of the colours used for the cover. The font used makes the masthead stand out as its in bold capital letters, easy to read. Also with the bold lettering it makes it easily recognisable to  different people. The word 'Vogue' means fashionable and popular which is a perfect title for the magazine as its al about the latests fashion trends and what fashion designers deem the most popular at the time.

2. Cara Delevingne is the model used for this issue of vogue, given her model status walking for Channel, Victoria Secret and Burberry taking this into account she is the perfect person to be on the cover of a fashion magazine. Over the years Cara has become more popular with both british and american audiences. Walking for the Victoria Secret fashion show in 2014 really started her modelling career as she then went on to walk for shows like Marc Jacobs, Mulberry, Burberry and Channel. Just recently she came out with her own handbag line with Mulberry, with a wide range of sizes and colours. Cara, at the time of the magazine shoot, was a up and coming model so the cover of the magazine is perfect for her as after shooting for Vogue she will move on to better things. Her body type on the cover shows a very posed and professional took, suggesting tot he audience that she has been modelling for a long time ore or that it only took her one shoot to get this picture. When in reality it might have taken her 30 shoots.

3. Everything on the cover of the magazine works well with the layout used. As the masthead is a bold red colour and so are some of the strap lines,the strap lines suggests and give ints to the audience as what they can expect from the articles in side the magazine. At the bottom of the cover there is the line 'the big fashion issue' which has ore likely been put there to suggests that Vogue are the big fashion issue as they are a fashion and a very popular magazine company. From the cover of the magazine it suggest s that all the stories that are going to appear inside the magazine will be linked to fashion and fashion tips. The clothing on Cara is very plain an dimple and doesn't take the audiences attention away from the strap lines to much as the colours of her clothing and the red colours of the headings match well and don't contrast each other. Also from the way all the strap lines are positioned  makes the audience attention fall straight on Cara as the strap lines are around the outside of the cover making it seem like Cara is making eye contact with the reader.

4. With many if not all the strap lines having something to do with fashion, models or makeup it implies to the audience that the articles that are inside will be based on these things with little trips and trick on how to wear different articles of clothing. With one strap line saying 'real clothes for real life' makes the audience believe that the magazine will tell them how to wear everyday clothes yet still make it look fashionable because no one has the time in the morning to spent putting the perfect outfit together, so why not just get a magazine tell you how to do it. The strap lines seen on the cover of the magazine prepare us for what is expected in side as its all about fashion so most likely will be aimed more at women than men as women will take long to plan an outfit and will give it a bit more thought, making the magazine perfect for a woman audience as its all about fashion forward statements and  'perfect fit the couture bra'.

5. A Vogue magazine can we used by women as a course of entertainment/ escapism or information, this is because women can gain information about different models or different clothing pieces. Women may use this magazine as a source of entertainment as they may find it exciting to change up an outfit or to see the different way they can war one piece of clothing. They may also like the fact that different models can be used on the front cover and different models are mentioned in side which will interest them more as they will want to know what the latest trend is or what models are wearing what. The information provided by that magazine is specific information as the thing written in this magazine will not be the same as any other as Vogue is more of a high end fashion magazine so it will be catwalk models and high end clothing, giving people low costing fashion that looks similar to the run way clothing.
