the 4c's 
1a) Main streamers are a collection of people who need security in their lives and therefore stick to the ‘status quo’. Media that offers them this are films that are any sequel. This appeal to main streamers because they will always know what to expect from the film, due to the fact it is a continuation from the previous film. They have expectations of a certain film for example high school musical, the plot is always the same for each film and will always end up with the same predictable outcome. The main streamers will always come out of viewing this film predicting what the end result will be because that’s what they enjoy about sequel films because they will always align with their expectations. They are reliable and they can entrust in Disney to produce a successful film due to their established track record.

I believe the succeeder would be drawn to an item such as the apple watch, the succeeder strives for control and seeks the best of the best. The apple watch is one of the latest movements in technology that allows you to have your whole life on your wrist. This would provide the succeeder with the organisation they need whist also allowing them to reward themselves with a new upcoming luxury item that they have worked hard to afford. The apple watch will allow them to plan their day to day life therefore meaning there won’t be any stress in trying to organise themselves as the watch will do that for them.

The aspirers are an image conscious group of people who are materialistic and are driven by others. They would be attracted to a product such as the fashion magazine vogue, due to the fact the product its self is pleasing on the eye and offers the aspirer goals and luxury items. It contains mostly images of a picture perfect models that are airbrushed to meet pure perfection, this will appeal to the aspirer as they are very superficial and are focused on their physical appearance. They only want the best and won’t settle for the average women’s magazines such as hello as that is seen as lower class and cheap they are willing to pay high end to tell people they read vogue. They are very interested in fashion and vogue will allow them to access what the top celebrities are wearing therefore they can be like them and show off. Making themselves attractive is a must and they must have the latest in trend styles no matter the price. They would willingly go in to financial difficulty if it meant buying the new Gucci handbag.

The explorer is someone who’s key purpose in life is to discover new things and experience things that people would usually turn a blind eye to. They are very adventurous and are willing to try almost anything as it is a new experience.  I believe new upcoming music will appeal to the explorer due to the fact they are an unknown artist which means there will be no opinions from outsiders which will allow them to delve in to discovery of them without any preconceptions.  New artists allow a new style of music that has yet to be heard therefore provides adrenaline and excitement for the explorer. They will no longer be interested in this artist as they begin to because more popular as it doesn’t provide the exclusivity they once did therefore will move on to discovering new music and the cycle continues.

1b) I believe these categories are helpful at placing people in groups that they can relate to but only to an extent because there might not be a certain category that everyone fits in to and also people could overlap in certain categories. For example I view myself as a main streamer however I also have elements of an aspirer in my personality, this would therefore leave me unsure of what category I would fit under. These should be used as guide lines for people and suggest what type of person they are and shouldn’t be used for solid evidence. Despite this the mainstream category is a successful category as it the most common group of people in our society as a now a days fitting in and following the status quo is a key element when being excepted.

1c) Ex on the beach is a reality TV show that is currently on where celebrities are forced to face their ex’s whilst trying to find love with fellow co-stars. This program is on after the watershed at 10pm on mtv therefore suggests it is for an older audience perhaps for views from age 16-25. I believe this program is aimed at women of the working class status as it deals with everyday relationship issues people will face revolving around emotional attachments. This will appeal to women over men as women are generally more in touch with their emotions and enjoy having an insight of other people’s problems to make themselves feel better or allow themselves to sympathize with a celebrity.

1d) film sequels such as high school musical will appeal to groupies as high school musical is a popular choice with younger children and teenagers. If they want to be accepted and be classes as normal in their society this is perfect as it is well known and is a talking point with in groups. By watching this they could automatically fit in to the social norm and other films with sequels can allow you to join conversations with in everyday day allowing them to fit in which is their goal.

The apple watch would appeal to the innovators as their goal in life is to make their mark on the world and to do that they need to have a clear step by step organised life to achieve the best possible outcome. The apple watch will provide them with every possible tool they need to get ahead in the world and easily get hold of any information they need in seconds. They can rely on their apple watch to be their companion on their road to success.

Vogue fashion magazine would appeal to the trendies as their goal is to gain admiration from their peers. Vogue allows them to keep up to date with the latest fashion on the catwalk and the star product top designers are recommending.  This means they can go out and invest in the latest and greatest products and showcase them for the world to see.

New upcoming music would appeal to the dropouts as their mission is to not get committed. New upcoming artists would allow them to enjoy the new music for a certain period of time until they become bored of it and then can move on and invest their time in another artist.  Due to the fact they are unknown means that once the drop out is finished with them they are more than likely to never hear of them because they were so exclusive, therefore making it easy not to become attached.

Ex on the beach would appeal to the groupie as it allows them to join in your everyday chat about the current TV show and fit in in society. Due to the fact it is so popular among teenagers this would be an almost must watch for a groupie to ensure they can be involved in social activity.
