media diary- audience reception

The text i have chosen to write about is awkward. Awkward is a tv show that focuses on the life of a young girl, it shows her struggles of being a teenager and we almost watch her grow up as we see her start high school and begin college and get her own job, a lot of the things she goes through are relatable and thats why i think the tv has gained the large level of popularity it has.

I think the target audience for this particular media text is mainstream as it has a very large following and the mainstream would watch it so they would have something to talk about with there people, they would also watch it to fit in. Also if someone recommended this to someone in the mainstream audience they would more than likely watch it as they often value other peoples opinions more than their own and follow the crowd.
