Charity Advertising Research - NSPCC // Open Your Eyes
This advert is just over a minute long, and is attempting to make people more aware and cautious of child abuse, hence the title of the advert being 'Open Your Eyes'. The ad is trying to reach out to people to help fund their cause, as child abuse is something that is very real, even if you don't see it with your actual eye.
The ad features characters to portray real life child abuse stories, automatically making the audience feel that connection to the advert. The visuals are very dark and lonely looking, adding to the theme and the message they are getting across. The black and white filter, that fills most of the video also represents sadness, and helps with the message. The advert goes through the stages of showing us a short sentence, with a visual representation of what happened playing. Adding the visuals helps the audience understand, and be more interested into the advert. The settings are fairly recognisable for what you would expect. The children are sad, dirty and lonely, and the music is calm and very child like, indicating that the children are just children, they don't deserve what is happening to them. The advert uses shock tactics by going as far as to have children act out stories, this makes it leave more of an impact on the audience.
