First World Problems - Water Is Life

Ideologies
- People in the first world need to stop being so selfish/self-centred
- Some people have nothing and it is wrong to be involved with our own lives
- That our problems are less important than the problems that others in the world are facing

Visual/Narrative Techniques
- Subtitles, even for the understandable speech, reinforces the FWP because we see it for longer.
- Juxtaposition of the people in third world countries and the problems that first world people think they face
- Showing the background of the third world environment, particularly the man in front of his house and the problem he reads out. Puts perspective on our own problems
- Music is uplifting towards to end and appropriately soft throughout the rest, very typical music

Advertising Techniques
- Gives the audience perspective
- Picks problems that are deliberately trivial to try and mock the audience/make them feel bad for thinking they have it bad
- Uses the hashtag of #firstworldproblems to let the audience find other stupid problems people post on social media as well which raises awareness for the cause

What does/doesn't work

Relatable problems that we face every day
- FirstWorldProblems is deliberately satirical. The problems are already being recognised as problems that only people in the first world are facing. The advert isn't really breaking through any major cultural walls as we already know that complaining about phone chargers is stupid. This doesn't mean that we won't continue doing it, we are already aware of the conditions in other countries.
