genre essay - Juno

Juno is a 2007 American comedy-drama independent film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Ellen Page stars as the title character, an independent-minded teenager confronting an unplanned pregnancy and the subsequent events that put pressures of adult life onto her.
the trailer shows an obvious yet subtle plot to what goes on the film, Juno finds out she is pregnant and the trailer displays the typical confession to the baby's father, her best friend and of course her father and step mother, it captures the moments of her first scan and meeting the baby's possible adoptive parents , all these scenes give a ultimate welcome to the film, its witty and humorous lines give it the wide range of audiences the anticipation to watch the film as a whole.
The main characters include Juno, a young, intelligent yet witty adolescent who is gets pregnant by Bleeker, an awkward yet sweet 'geek' who is the father to Juno's baby. Juno's dad is played by J.K Simmons a famous male actor well known for his performances in the Law & order franchise and award winning Bird Man, he being a protective and easy going dad who takes Juno's news well but is slightly apprehensive towards Juno's adopting resolution. Together Juno's family and friends help display her average life which soon becomes her not so average teenage years.
The film is set in America, in the small town of Minessota where Juno lives and goes to High school, the movie is mostly filmed in her Highschool and in the adoptive parents house which is an hours drive away from Juno's house, where she often makes the drive to keep the adoptive parents updated.
The iconography is made very clear in the trailer, we know Juno still lives with her parents implying that she is still of a young age, and although Juno is very mature by the way that she deals with the whole situation she is shown to be still below the age of maturity as it shows the scene where she 'barfs' in her stepmother urn after drinking a giant slushy too fast, this shows obvious immaturity and not a very graceful or grown up act.
