Artist: Wiz Khalifa ft Charlie Puth
Song: See You again
Visual style/Mise en scene
The music video starts off with quite a sad tone as the music is just Charlie Puth playing the piano we get a slow pan shot of what looks like the sky and city. Then we see a walking room shot by Wiz Khalifa this could build drama or the build up to the song. A track shot is used when Charlie Puth starts to sing this creates a medium shot showing the cars which represent the film as it is from Fast and the Furious, however, it can also signify Paul walkers love for cars. As we know Paul died in a car accident so it can also represent that as a tribute to him. Near the end of the video we see shot reverse shot used when him and his brother at the end look at each other this creates emotion and sadness.
Narrative including techniques
This is quite an emotional video for some people as it is a soundtrack for The Fast And Furious and it was an emotional scene anyway however, I feel like anyone who knows Paul Walker could not help to think about his death while watching it. I think that the theme in this video is friendship as it says "its been a long day without you my friend" this shows how he is missed. The video shows shots of each Furious film which reinforces the fact that its a tribute because normally it would be just that film it is presenting. The Narrative of the song matches perfectly with the story being portrayed by the video.
Conventional/Unconventional
I think this video is very unique I don't this video is your typical music video as it doesn't use typical lighting and dancing as that just does not fit the theme. Even though, it was used on a film the story comes through and is betrayed in a way most audiences will understand.
What works/what doesn't
I think this video fits good together the lyrics match the narrative and the concepts that the director has used makes the video very unique and unexpected. Even though, the video is quite emotional the artists tend to focus on the good times. It plays near the end of the film as the two drive away. Charlie Puths vocals add emotion and sadness to the song.
