visual style/ mise-en-scene: -
the camera has been placed so that the whole set of each impression is visible, close up shots to see makeup/ hair/ costume in detail are used and to capture the full persona of the person/band they are trying to portray, editing has been used so that when the screen changes from shot to shot, as one goes into another it is revealed in a shape, eg a star, this also captures the genre and persona of the music and band they are playing. editing has also been used by changing the colour and composition of the shots, eg. black and white, this again conveys the whole character and authenticity of the band they are portraying. the resolution of the shots have also been changed when they portray the beatles and elvis presley, to make it look like the shots the music artists were originally filmed with.
narative/ technique used:-
there is no story in contrast with the song and the video, instead the video is made up of a variety of comic impressions of other bands, the band members have dressed, had their makeup and hair done to act as the musicans they are trying to represent, the instruments and background have also been changed for each shot so the impression is as accurate as possible, it is done very impressivley and reflects the uniqueness and how authentic the video is. the red hot chilli peppers portray many music artists aswell as including themselves
- elvis presley
- the beatles
- hendrix / cream
- parliment funkadelic
- bowie (ziggie stardust)
- sex pistols
- misfits
- poison/ twisted sister/ motley crew
