visual/ style mise-en-scene:-
the camera angles are an important part of this video, most shots are used from outside of the cage, so that we see the actors inside the cage enforcing the message that they are trapped. alot of close ups are also used, this is because the emotion and facial expressions in this video are important way of getting the message across and to fully understand the feelings and structure of the actors, the closeups capture this. the camera is hardly static, it follows the actors as they move and travel around the cage, alot of zooming in and out techniques are used, to show the scale of the cage cdompared to the actors.
narrative/ including techniques used:-
the iconography plays a part in the video as we recognise maddie, from the series of 'dance moms' and also sia's previous music video 'chandelier,' this video is a almost a sequel and includes also shia laBeouf well known for his role as sam in the film series of 'transformers.' together they play shia's character, maddie playinghis inner child or demons, this also reflects on the cage used in the video, it contrats between shia being trapped and parts of him being able to escape and parts of him not. this is is an important video because alot of the audience could possibly relate to the message portrayed by the video, it also strengthens the message and meaning of the song.
