NSPCC - Hands - 1

The advert used in this research is: NSPCC - Hands

The ideologies developed in this campaign is that hands are meant to help your children, rather than punish them with pain. They should be used to help your child do specific things in their life, and guide them along a right path in life, rather than forcing them physically into the wrong path.

There is only one character in the advert, the young, small child was used to represent vulnerability in children, as they are unable to retaliate back to the adults who are physically hurting them. The hands could be considered a character as there are several hands used to help the child, when he needed to climb up the ladder and when he wanted happiness by gifting the child the swing set. At the end when the chid lays down, the child is inside a heart made from hands, showing the audience that hands should be used to love children, and they always have a special place in our hearts. The music used is happy and cheerful, representing that children should be children, happy and joyful. The music doesn't put anyone into a bad mood, it lightens people up and they should do the same to children.

The juxtaposition at the end of the advert makes the audience question whether they are doing is right or wrong. Using the words "Weapons" and "Love" in the same sentence makes the audience realise that children need to receive love from adults as they are vulnerable in this world, hands can danger the child if it is not used in the correct, and right manner.

The use of a variety of colours in the advert appeals to the audience as it makes the advert stand out to the audience, there just a bring use of one or two colours, every colour that the audience can think of is used in the advert, which can represent that children can have a bright future with the help of the adults hands to guide them on to a right path.
