Save the Children - Child Poverty - 11

Charity: Save the Children
Campaign: Child Poverty

Ideologies:

The encoders want the audience to know that children in the UK are living in awful conditions due to the lack of money in some families. The lack of money is affecting their health, as some kids cant afford to eat a proper meal, while some cant afford to live in warm houses and have to sit under duvets or coats to keep themselves warm. The encoders want the audience to know that some kids are living in these conditions, and they live all around us, and it isn't fair for them to live in these conditions, they need help to so they can concentrate on their life, and making their life happy and healthy.

Characters/Visual Style/Lines of Appeal

The main character in this advert is the Paul o'Grady, infamous for his charity work, so much so that he was given a most excellent order of the British Empire (MBE) for his charity and entertainment work. Because of this, and because of his television work including animal charities, most members o the audience will recognise who Paul is, and are more likely to donate to a cause that he is involved in, due to his calm voice, it doesn't put the audience into an erratic state, the audience feel relaxed whilst watching the advert due to the tone Paul has when delivering the advert. The background of the advert looks dark and bleak, which is representing the future that the children will have without the help if the charity and the audiences donations. The first child looks to be dazing out in hopeof a better life, as this one isn't doing well for him due to the lack of heating/eating. The uniform is earing showd the audience how young he actually, is, as he must only be in a primary school due to the pants and shoes he is wearing. The child under the duvet has a lack of emotion on hias face, showing how sad he is living in the house.
