womens magazine

surf chick was a famous american girl's magazine that was at its most popular throughout the late 90's and early 2000's.
the image used for this cover displays a girl model, wearing a beanie hat, hoodies and holding a skateboard across her back, this first of all destroys the girly girl stereotype and allows the archetype of a fun and punk styled skater girl, her plaited her and natural face with almost no makeup on suggest her lack of care for what other people think of her and that she dresses and styles to please herself and not others around her. the scrunched and scowling look on her face suggest intimidation an that just because she is a girl doesn't mean she cant be aggressive.
