The budget of the movie was between $28,000,000 - $30,000,000.

  • What studios were involved?
The production of the film was down to production companies Marv Films and Plan B Entertainment. The movie was distributed by Lionsgate in the US and Universal Pictures worldwide.

  • How was the movie funded?
The film initially struggled to receive funding, Vaughn claiming to raise the $30 Million to fund the project himself. 

  • How did they make a comic book movie into a live action film?
Both the comic book and the film were being produced at the same time, meaning both projects were being developed simultaneously. However, Vaughn had not progressed past issue 5 of the comic and had to leave to develop other projects allowing Miller to take his own creative influence upon the movie. 

  • Was the comic changed at all?
Due to Millers creative flare on the movie, Vaughn had to change the comics slightly.

  • What was the casting process?
Vaughn stated that in order for the audience to focus on the character Kick-Ass, the actor had to be relatively unknown. When shown Aaron Johnson's audition tape, both were sold and they told Aaron that to get the role he must lose weight to fit the superhero image.

The directors struggled to fund the movie.
They struggled to find a lead actor.
