Shooting a music video can be a lot of fun and editing a completed piece can be extremely rewarding. However shooting a music video can be time consuming and difficult and editing a completed piece can feel frustrating and futile.
The difference between these two experiences is based entirely on how well prepared you are before the shoot and edit.
So... despite the fact that you may have completed the Pre-Production work necessary for the coursework you still have quite a few tasks yet to complete.
Before you learn how to use cameras and digital editing there are some other tasks that need completing. The booklet below gives more details on some of these points up until the page outlining: The Shoot.
Make sure you have completed these tasks before attempting any filming:
- Storyboard all of the shots - do this by dividing up the remaining scenes between your group
- List all the characters, props, costumes and settings needed
- Cast your video carefully
- Make sure you and your group have contact details for everyone involved - create a contact list
- Get props and costumes sorted
- Recce appropriate locations and contact if permissions are needed
- Write a shot list of every shot needed in each location and what cast & props are needed
- Arrange specific dates for shooting and make sure everyone knows when this will happen
All the information can be found in the booklet below...
