Here's a sample paragraph...
I
found that the Cancer Research ‘Being There’ advert made simple but effective
use of enigma
codes. The
line of dialogue: “I
shouldn’t be here” is repeated by three different characters,
leading the audience to
ask why?
In
fact we start to give our own answers, is the woman at the start having an
affair? Should the young boy playing football be at home with his family – it
is only later that the answers are given, and as an audience this also acts as
a twist in
the narrative.
I
have used these ideas in my storyboards
whereby in the opening eight shots there are various that are initially
intriguing but are visually interesting, drawing an audience
further in to the advert. These shots do not make complete sense until the voice
over gives
context to them later on in the storyboard.
