A media text that I consumed this week is the film Project X. The film is about a teenager in high school that is considered a bit of a loner who throw's a big party when his mum and dad are away and then becomes hugely popular. As you can tell it's a typical teenage film with not much story line to it. I really liked the film. However, I think that the intended audience was definitely the 'Mainstream' group. The people who follow the crowd and don't have much opinion/ just like what everybody else likes and what they think they should like, simply because there is no story line to it. There's nothing you have to think about too much. It's just a very easy film to watch. Mainstream people usually like films that are action packed and about something light hearted such as this. Mainstream people are also very aware and conscious of what people think about them and like to fit in with the crowd, so particularly teenagers would enjoy and will have seen this film as the film has teenagers in it and appeals to teenagers the most. Mainstream people like to have seen films that everybody else has seen and this is a film widely viewed by most teenagers. The film does include sexual scenes which would not be suitable for children- it also includes shots of drug use ect- which again, appeals to teens.
