Choose two texts that you have consumed over the past week and give a detailed account of all of the different ways that you have used it and what gratifications it fulfilled.
You need to be analytical of exactly how it fulfilled these gratifications - analyse elements from within the texts.
i.e. Just saying that something Entertains you because "...it's entertaining" is not good enough.
If you use something for Personal Identity then say exactly how it provides you with that Identification - be analytical of the use of writing, camera work, characters etc etc.
Try to use texts that fulfil lots of different Uses & Gratifications and be thorough in your analysis.
Remember, according to the model there are four different U&Gs we have for a text...
- Personal Identity
- Information
- Entertainment/Escapism
- Social Interaction
Use lots of evidence from your text - you will need to show an examiner that you can apply theories like these - not just memorise them!
