NSPCC open your eyes
Ideologies
The advert shows the isolation suffered by children who are
subjected to abuse. We get the feeling of fear from the children due to them
being alone all the time and also the use of black and white could represent
fear of the dark.
Visual style
The close up shots and medium close ups emphasize the
isolation suffered from the children making us feel sorry for them and also the
black and white makes it seem more real and makes the situation more hopeless.
Lines of appeal
The narrator uses phrases such as ‘open your eyes and your
heart’ which appeals to the audience as they will realise it is their duty as a
human to give to this charity and help people less ortunate than themselves.
What works
The advert makes
people sympathise with the situation as it is made to look as bleak as possible
and hopeless for the children involved.
