Film Review
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
Synopsis:
A simple Hobbit is drawn into a world of elves, dwarves,
wizards and dark lords in a journey across Middle-Earth to destroy the magical
One Ring and its dark master Sauron before Middle-Earth falls into his evil
grasp.
Rating:
5 stars out of 5
Criticism:
Although the film follows the basic storyline many of the
characters and dark creatures encountered by the fellowship that does not
affect the plot have been omitted. An example of the characters omitted was Tom
Bombadil, a friendly forest man who uses songs to calm the dark spirits of the
forest. Another example is the Barrow-Wights, dark spirits of dead kings who
are under the control of the evil Nazgul.
Positive Points:
The parts that were included however were directed and
portrayed in such a way that kept the spirit of the books but adapted it to
suit the screen. Also from the very beginning you were able to sense and
understand the relationships between the characters easily and effortlessly.

I believe that the target audience is meant to be teenagers
and adults. This is because of the intricate plot lines and complicated
dialogue.
Genre: Fantasy
The music of this film was composed by Howard Shore. He also
composed the music for the other two films which proceeded it.
