The X-factor
The X factor is a reality TV show aired on ITV1 on Saturdays and Sundays. It is a competition based show where thousands of contestants compete to win the prize which is fame.
The purpose of this text is to entertain the people at home. People want to see real life and in the X factor the audience can take part, and vote for their winner, but also go on the journey throughout the show. The type of people likely to watch this is mainstreamer because it is a popular show and watched by most people. The X factor is looking for a winner for their show and the purpose also is to change peoples lives, not just the winner, but the runners up.
My reaction to this text is that I like it because it is in some ways commercial, in the auditions but I also think it is a good thing to watch because not only does it keep you entertained, but you are involved with everything that happens next. For example if you have a favourite and vote for them and they win, you automatically feel like you have contributed. However the negative side is that now it is the same old and not as good as it used to be, but they are trying to make it better which I don't think they should of changed it because they have 4 judges instead of 3 and also Simon Cowell who is the producer doesn't even take part in the UK X factor anymore, which is a bit disappointing.
Other peoples opinions on the text could be that they hate it because it is full of people who are on it for the attention and want the world to know their life story, and only in it for the fame and money because some contestants who win the show don't do anymore work after they have won the show.
