TV Series-Breaking Bad
Audience profiling I feel is very effective as you are able
to customize and change what questions you need to ask, to relate to the media text you are referring to.
The questions I believe this would be asking is what is your age? This would probably be between the ages of 20
and 40 as this is a show you really need to be able to relate to. For this
series I think you need to have some understanding of how you spend money in
the real world and the problems that are presented when doing so. Another
question that would be most certainly there is Do you have a family? I believe
this because this show is based on a man risking everything for their family
but not in the most of conventional ways, so appealing to a family man and the lengths
they would go to, to protect them.
The income and status model is a good model as it focuses on
quite a large bit of society and is very effective in capturing there attention
this is done through making the text extremely relatable to the class they are
aiming at. This is why I believe breaking bad would attract class D because
this is the class that struggles to keep their heads above water but just about
manages and once again this is very relatable to the series and as a result this
would attract this certain classes attention, for the simple reason that this
series is an exaggerated example of finical struggles, so it is also an escape
for those who are not able to do what the series is doing because in the real
world it’s almost impossible and they would rather live it through sitting
safely behind the TV.
Young and Rubicams 4c’s is the least effective of the 4 I have
chosen but still has its advantages as it is really concentrating on a specific
part of society so an audience is almost guaranteed. I think The Mainstreamer
would be the right one to put to Breaking Bad. The first reason is that it has
been running for a while now and has gained a large audience and is very
popular over in America an Imdb making it, there 2nd most watched
series ever, therefor is must be a very mainstream series also just the story
alone is very mainstream and relates to every single citizen of America who cannot
afford health insurance and those who are proud people and don’t enjoy
accepting help of others so go to extremes.
Lifestyle categories just goes that one more step into
detail after the young and rubicams 4c’s model, concentrating on a more
specific part of society for breaking bad which would be the cowboys as the
series is concentrating on making big money as quickly and as easily possible
whether they are breaking the law and at some point the series probably become
a cowboys dream, with all the money there constantly stumbling across through
the series .
