John Lennon
The media text that has changed my life is John Lennon, Although John is dead he is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of all time. John was from Liverpool which makes me feel a connection with him as i am from Liverpool too. I was first introduced to John's music when my grandad introduced me to the Beatles the most famous band of all time who changed music forever, all of the members being from Liverpool which gives me an element of Pride.
John came from an ordinary working class background and became the most famous person on the planet which I think is why he is a great role model for children coming from working class families. After The Beatles, John became a solo artist and continued to write inspirational music, Personally I think Lennon's music gives people hope with the messages that are engraved in his music. The song that John produced that had a strong effect on me was 'Imagine' which features the lyrics 'Imagine all the people, living life in peace'. This song made me realise how much conflict there is in the world and the negative effects it has.
Although John Lennon was murdered in 1980 before i was born, His musical genius and lyrics, fashion and his outlook on life has influenced me to make some of the same choices and the same perceptions.
