Media Diary - Week 5

Dexter
In my eyes watching Dexter not only fulfils my Entertainment/Escapism needs but also my  needs for Social Interaction. I enjoy watching it because I can just switch off from my life  and totally engross myself in the show and all it's characters. I especially enjoy the story line because it doesn't treat me like a child and makes me think which is what I look for in a good programme, I hate being spoon fed information. I wouldn't say the characters are relatable but I certainly feel strong emotions towards them and enjoy watching how the story unfolds. The other thing I enjoy about it is that the camera shots that are used are sometimes unusual and it can open my eyes to all different types of angles. I also enjoy watching Dexter because I can talk to my friend about it which fulfils my need for Social Interaction.

Atlantis
Watching television with my dad one evening we decided to put on a new BBC show called Atlantis which follows a man called Jason who is looking for his father. Whilst searching underwater he finds himself being transported to the lost city of Atlantis where he comes across Hercules and Pythagoras. The show incorporates Greek mythology and some slight humour to create an adequate storyline which some good plot twists. I have been enjoying watching it for Social Interaction because as I've been watching it with my dad we have been discussing the plot and storyline over the past few days. I have also been enjoying learning new information about Ancient Greece.
