Time to change Schizo movie advert

Ideologies

This advert is trying to point out hat Schizophrenia is not as bad as everyone thinks and this what this advert is trying to tell people so the people with this do not get abuse but that they get support. But also this advert is trying to get people to help stop the discrimination of mental health patients by telling them to visit their website.

Visual and Narrative techniques

At the start this advert is set out like a horror film trailer and the reason this advert does this is because it is playing on people's stereotypes.Because to a lot of people if someone has schizophrenia they believe that the person with it will end up going on a murder spree and kill a lot of people for no reason and this is exactly why this is done because about 30 seconds in and find out he is a normal person they get a little shocked. So when people eventually hear his life story they understand what he has actually went and want to actually nurture him. To emphasise he is a normal person they have put him in a bright room making tea for his wife and then like any normal person goes and sits down with his wife and starts to talk this shows he is actually a caring person and loves his wife.

Advertising techniques

To get people to understand that Schizophrenia is not actually as bad as people think they play on peoples stereotype with like I said the stereotyping of people with Schizophrenia and then end up shocking them with the person being normal. Also they access the need for nurture and protection by telling the audience that the discrimination of these people is actually happening quite frequently and that they need our help to stop people from discriminating people with Schizophrenia. Also in this advert they use the sex that is mostly commonly known as being the dominant one they make him have the schizophrenia and this shows that this can happen to anyone so the charity need people's help to stop the discrimination.

What works/What doesn't

I believe using the horror setting at the start to play on people's stereotypes was a brilliant idea and this is because it sets up the shock and feeling for nurture and protection we get when we see the person diagnosed with Schizophrenia as he is completely different to what we expect. Overall i believe everything went and that this is a superb advert that really dos get the message across.
