Camera/Editing
A nuetral shot of a tree from a low angle where we can hear nature such as birds. The camera then pans downwards with a stringy sound from an instrument which gets sharper as it approaches the house. This singifies that the climax of the narrative must be in house. As the camera scans round, and the sharpness of the note informs of how close we are, like the hot or cold game. For a series of shots we see tracking and panning before the medium close up of the girl. An over the shoulder shot shows us them exchanging stuff while watching the tele. A long shot watches them walk out the house and get into the car. after following the car a range of shots are taken inside the house which they are stealing from. Each of these shots are edited to fade into one enough like a dissolve which slides down. a shot reverse shot is used when they pull away fromt the house. We see a close up of the gun held my the man who has been shot.
Narrative
The narrative is extremely easy to figure out. I know that the basics of the narrative are that a young couple, who while bored, decided to let loose and steal from a house. I know this because the lyrics go "Two young lovers with nothin' better to do". we know they robbed a house because they said "Billy Joe shot a man while robbing his castle". After they robbed the house they were seperated but found eachother a day later because were told "Bobbie Sue, whoa, whoa, she slipped away, Billy Joe caught up to her the very next day." A police man is informed but however he is seen as a dirty cop because "He makes his livin' off of the people's taxes". "They headed down south and they're still running today" symbolises that the couple got away without a problem even though commiting murder and burgularly. The chorus goes like "Singin' go on take the money and run" which kind of persuades the ideologies of the song that stealing the right thing to do.
Conventional
Not many songs encourage robbery. However this one infomrs us that you can do it by using an imperative. "Go on" tells us that we should give it a try. "Take the money and run" is quite broad I think that without the narrative verses it would mean 'any money from anywhere'. The story line is popular with films because of the unlikely nature of the get away being so easy. Films will over complicate the narrative by using twists. The music video however hasnt got time for that therefore the narrative events are in chronological order without any stalls.
what works well
The narrative is interesting and can be easily turned into a movie plot. However the unexplained chase by the police is disappointing. The camera shots which dissolve into eachother are used well as the lines rhyme therefore the shots end in the same way as though they are rhyming too.
