"you will hardly ever encounter a story separate from expectations about it, usually how it fits into with genres and their audiences."
This quote tells me that a media text usually is not told in a variety of ways that it is able to make generic genres and audiences not feel different about the media text compared to rare media texts that are in the industry e.g. Kill Bill.
" Punishment of the villain always happens at the end of a movie."
Even when a film has an unusual narrative most films still leave the punishment of the villain till the end and this will never usually be changed because the audience love to see a big finale at the end of a film so I completely agree with this quotation. Even a film like Kill Bill left the punishment of the main villain till the end to make the audience have something to look forward to at the end.
"Todorov, another structuralist, argued that all stories begin with an equilibrium."
This argument is quite outdated because their is an film that I can name right of the bat that do not start with an equilibrium that is Sin City that is because what we believe to be the main character at the start of the film turns out to be one of three main protagonists and he also nearly gets killed at the start.
"The news media have often structured the end of wars so as to leave out stubborn elements that in fact don't end."
This suggests that that each media piece is structured by which type of media it is because news stories have can no end that can go on for years. But tv shows and movies have to end one way or another it does not matter if it is a cliff hanger or not. Certain media texts have to abide by certain rules in the industry whereas other types of media do not need to apply by rules narratively anyway.
" An action code will be read by means of accumulated details (looks, significent words) which invoke (and reinforce) our knowledge of what are often highly conventional 'scripts'."
This quotation shows that this theory of the five method narrative is used a lot in most films as it is used in most conventional scripts and films. This means that a lot of films follow this film meaning that a lot of films now follow the same cliches and formulas to other films in the same genre making original films in a genre hard to come by.
"The term narration describes how stories aren told, how their material is slected and arranged in order to achieve particular effects with their audiences."
This quotation is saying that a narrative can be manipulated anyway the driector wants the narrative to be manipulated the director could make the beggining the end scene and the end the beggining scene if he really wanted to. Either which ever way the movie is directed the structure of the narrative will make the audience think a certain way about the film and how the film feels everything about a film is dtermined through it's narrative.
"We should not feel that the plot has cheated: that parts of the story have suddenly been revealed that we could not possibly have guessed."
This quotation tells us that a narrative cannot be rushed in the and not make sense and this is because if a media text does that the narrative can messed up and end up being confusing for the viewer and take all the pleasure out of a film because some strange things in the narrative come out of nowhere.
"Another part of constructionist of narratives involves the voice telling the story."
This quotation tells me that depending on what type of voice used by different characters perspectives can change the way a narrative is expressed it can make the narrative personal and restrictive. But also depending on the language used by the different characters in the media texts the narrative of a media text can be very open letting the audience know what is happening.
"blonde hair, a certain accent, height, star image, e.t.c.will all apply certain (different) characters and consequences within particular narrative (or generic) contexts."
This shows how depending on the certain characters used within media texts can depend on how narratives can be expressed through all of the different characters and character types within a media text this can change the meaning of a narrative and story in a blink of an eye.
